Why do many people not take art/artists seriously?
In our society, art and artists often struggle to be taken seriously. This is largely due to the misconception that art is an easy, non-essential pursuit and the notion that it isn't a 'real job'. Many people also fail to appreciate the skill and dedication required to create art, and the economic contribution of the arts industry is often overlooked. There is also a prevalent bias that art is only for the elite or educated, which minimizes its broader cultural significance. Lastly, the subjective nature of art often leads to its dismissal, with people finding it hard to see past their personal preferences.
