Blooming Love- BJP

Good Saturday Morning everyone-

I know I have got away from blogging but I am back. I will be posting every Saturday morning. Today, I am here to show you my Bead Journal Project for this year. Of course, I am all ready behind. But, I am hoping to catch up with week.  Tracey and I spent a lot of time talking about going outside our comfort levels and trying something new. So, I decide I would do circles with needle felting and embellished with beads.

Here is the piece as I got started.

The finished piece.

Now let me tell you a little about the piece.  The birthday stone for January is Garnet and is normal red. Red garnets have long been associated with blood purification.  To me meaning a clean fresh start.  Blue is the color of loyalty and faith so I out lined some of the felting in blue.  I used red seed beads too to show power that you need to have a clean start. Yellow suggest freshness. the color gold is associated with wealth and prosperity which I believe comes with a new beginning. The key is to help you unlock all the doors you thought were closed or to hard to open. The wooden bead that says LOVE is to remind you to keep love in our heart.  Then you truly can have a blooming love all year long.

Thanks so much for stopping in.  Hope you enjoyed seeing my Bead Journal Project.

Sunday Mornings

Today, I am here to share with you a painting I did after taking Mindy Lacefield’s  Sunday Morning class.  In this class you drew your inspiration from God’s word. It was about connecting your painting to your feelings of faith.

We were to find a bible verse that you like and paint that scene. I have always found comforter in Ephesian 5:8 “For at one time you were the darkness but now you are the light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”

Gelli Arts Print- Cat

I spent some time down in my studio. I just wanted to play. One of first loves is collage. I have been thinking about doing a cat collage for a while so here he is.

The other thing I have been thinking about is “being yourself”. Learning to love the person you are and not changing so other people will love you.  I read this online- One of the greatest challenges in life is being yourself in a world that’s trying to make you like everyone else.  Someone will always be prettier, someone will always be smarter, someone will always be younger, but they will never be you.  Don’t change so people will like you.  Be yourself and the right people will love the real you. You shouldn’t have to change who you are to be around certain people! God made you the way you are for a reason and loves you just the way you are….we all have different talents…we are all a work in progress (WIP). Celebrate the true you! catgelliprintbycs copy catgelliprintcloseup copy How we should treat others…framedbeyourselfquote   Thanks for stopping in…hope you enjoyed my post! Hugs, signk

Hello and Good Monday Morning,

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend. Today, I am here with a fun mixed media project using the flutter stencil and mask, canvas shapes (sunflower), and burlap (teal).

I started out with a 6 x 6 block of wood. Then I just randomly painting the background in ocean-ish colors with a little touch of yellow 😉 I got creative with the flutter stencil of the owl and turned it sideways to make it look like a fish. Painted the fish with cute little faces. Cut and added the canvas sunflowers using glue. Next, I painted them and added a little burlap to the tops of them. I also used a button, washi tape, some words, black colored pencils, and gel pens. Once, I was all done I sealed it.

A couple of close ups for you! What journey will you embrace today?
Hope your have a creative day!

Word of the year- FOCUS

Happy New Year everyone. For the past few years I have been doing a Word of the Year. This year, I choose the word FOCUS.

– Focus on the future

– Focus on fun

– Focus on the important things

– Focus on celebrating the little things

– Focus on my dreams

Follow One Course Until Successful

Another thing I am doing this year is taking the Life Book 2014 class. It is a year long online class.  Class started yesterday. I was able to complete the warm up exercise this am.  Of course, I took it a little farther than we were suppose to for the warm up. Once, I was on a roll I was unstoppable! (Smile)

Crack of the Month- December 2013

I have completed Carla Sonheim “sidewalk” crack of the month for December. I so enjoy this creative challenge each month. Here is a link to this month’s crack- Dec2013 .  As you can see, I turned the paper sideways.  Give it a try, I am sure you will enjoy it! It’s so FUN to see what other people see in the crack. It really makes you look at things in a different way. For example the back of my bathroom door- I now see an owl…I’ll have to post a photo of it soon so you can to you spot my owl too! LOL! closeupCOMdec crackofthemonthdec2013

Fox mixed media painting

Today, I am sharing this 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch painting of a Fox who is enjoying life on his magic rug. Imagine if you could just stand on a magically multicolored rug and every thing in life was just as it should be. The sky blue, the sun shining, lovely green grass at your feet and gorgeous flowers to smell. Peace and love in your heart.  Well, that is how things work for Farley Fox. The minute Farley steps off the magical rug, he doesn’t know how his journey will go. Does he play it safe on the rug or not?  Stay tuned to find out….Ben (my 8 year old) is writing the story.

Thanks for stopping in to check out my new art. Hope you have an amazing day!

Watercolor owl book

The November Challenge over at Frog dog Studios is watercolors! I have been playing with watercolors since high school.  They are the media,  I feel most comfortable playing with.

In my studio I have  a couple of Genuinely Jane Studio wooden books.  I love than painting on wood. So, I took two pages of the four wooden pages and make my own little journal to keep my drawings in.  I cut some 110 lb card stock to fit in the book ( 5 1/2 inch square).  The supplies I used to make cover- white acrylic paint, watercolors, black pen, misc. paper, stencils and stickers.

Here is the cover:
