Happy Fri-cake day

Happy first day of Spring! The weather is super funny here in WI. We hit 74 degrees earlier this week, but today it is 33 degrees and they are calling for possible snow showers! Not so spring like!

We have a busy weekend ahead…our great nephew turns two, so we are heading up to the big city for his Birthday!

bugtreatbox

This is a little treat box that I made for him with some of the new stamps I got last weekend! The treat box is made with a die from Sizzix. It is the bomb! The caterpillar image and it’s your party are  from Bugawumps. The tape measure is from Lost Coast Designs. I colored the caterpillar with oil pastels.

Next I have another journal page for you…on my thoughts on cupcakes. I used nice springy colors since the theme at Mixed Media Monday is Spring colors. I know, I am way behind with all the illness in my house! I am happy to report everyone is on the mend! Yippee!

That is the theme this week at Mixed Media Monday. When I think of the written word, I think of getting a letter in the mail! In this day and age though not to many people write letters. I say long life the letter. LOL!

Time

The theme this week at Mixed Media Monday is time. I think that time seems to go so quickly. Each week seems to pass faster and faster. It is a new month before I know it! Time for sure seems to go way to fast for me. The one thing we make sure to do at my house,  is we make time to smile and enjoy the simple things in life.

Got a cape?

This week the theme at Mixed Media Monday is HEROS! I really thought long and hard about it. Of course the first thing that came to mind was super heros. Every day at 4:30pm we watch our favorite super hero Wordgirl! LOL! Then I started to think about the true heros in my life! The biggest hero in my life was my Gram. She was kind, smart, was never afraid to tell it like she seen it, and would help anyone.  Since, I do not have one photo of my Gram….I went back to the drawing board. I started to think about how amazing my kids are, they have a lot of the same characteristics my Gram had. I just know that they are going do lots of wonderful things. They give me strength and courage to try new things and grow.  So, now I had an idea I could work with. I started to think about this book I had checked out at the library this week Mixed Media Mosaics.  Then as luck would have Micheal’s had polymer clay on sale for 99 cents a pack. I had a frame to use. Total  cost of this project is about $4.00

So here it my project:

Each tile is handmade out of polymer clay. I used white then colored with my Prismacolor markers.

Colors of Markers used:

PM-24 Yellow Chartreuse

PM-43 Indigo Blue

PM-15 Yellow Orange

PM-19 Canary Yellow

PM-123 Spanish Orange

PM-32 Parrot Green

PM-153 Pumpkin Orange

PM-14 Pale Vermillion

PM-98 Black

I added some details to the tiles then  sealed the tiles with varnish. After doing this mosaic I have lot of ideas floating around in my head! We will see what comes of them. Nothing today I am sure, Sam is still sick and very sad that he couldn’t go to school!

Thanks so much for stopping in. All you comments mean the world to me! Remember to stop by tomorrow- I will have some blog candy to help celebrate my SIL birthday!

Friend or Foe?

Hello Everyone! I have a really busy week and weekend on my plate! My step-daughter graduates from high school this week. So, I am busy helping get things ready for her graduation party. Last night while trying to unwind from a long day- I read my Cloth Paper Scissors- I found this article on making clutch purse out of fused plastic bags! Then I though about the theme at Mixed Media Monday this week. Which is FRIENDSHIP. I love to go shopping with my girlfriends and look at pretty handbags. Plus I have a love hate friendship  with my sewing machine! So thinking WAY OUTSIDE the box. I went with this friendship clutch.

First I want to say- I had a great time making this bag- it is a little funky- odd shaped- thread not so neat…but that is most likely how my friends would describe me! I think next week I will try to make another one but a small one for business cards!

What day of the week is it?

I know it is Tuesday but here I am just finished the Mixed Media Monday challenge! The theme this week is moon/lunar.  Yesterday I just did not get to it after I took a spill on the ice at the ink spots school! Hurting my ankle at least the swelling is done today.
